May 3, 2010 Temp = 67F, clear but headed for a hot day
6:15am. An owl (looked big; possibly the female) was sitting in the water dish on the back deck and drinking for 3-4 minutes. 6:25-6:45am, Male owl perched on branch of small oak tree by the upstairs shop window. At 6:45am, he flew to a foliage roost in the nest-box tree, immediately behind the nest box.
PM: Temp = 81F, hot and dry
8:15pm. Female was sitting in the water dish on the back deck and drinking. She was joined by the male, who drank briefly. Female started into a splashy, full-blown bathing routine, whereupon the male flew up into the Thistlefeeder Tree, possibly to keep a watch for cats or other dangers while his mate was bathing.
